Youth exhausted and exhilarated by ‘Day Out’ programme
Youth of the Ummah’ (YOU) - the youth wing of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre - held a successful “Day Out” on Saturday, the 7th of December 2019 at ‘Spirit of Adventure’ located in the precinct of the Shongweni Dam, Durban.
A group of 45 participants, accompanied by 3 facilitators spent the day out in the sunshine in an absorbing programme that entailed an obstacle course, abseiling, and the highlight of the day, the build a raft and row it. The team departed at 07:30 from Masjid Taqwa in Sea Cow Lake. Before departure, advices were delivered to the participants regarding the etiquettes of being a Muslim.
Throughout the day Islamic guidance and motivation was delivered to the participants as well as a dedicated programme on developing spirituality through character and challenges facing the youth. Lunch and refreshments were also provided. The day was thoroughly enjoyed and the youth returned physically exhausted and spiritually uplifted.
Alhamdulillah, the youth returned safely to Masjid Taqwa at approximately 16:45.
These programmes intend to give our youth an opportunity to be in an environment of learning, spiritual awareness and character development.
Some comments made by parents of the participants were, “Jazakallah khayr to the entire team for giving them this opportunity. They had an incredible time”
